The Honda Prelude has a different types of crankshafts.  Each one will give you more power than the other.  The after market crankshaft will be used for high powered applications.

  • Prelude Crankshaft
  • H22 Crankshaft
  • H23 Crankshaft
  • F22 Crankshaft

  • Most after market crankshafts for the Prelude can be used in any block.  When going for a bigger crank, you will most likely need to send your block off for work.  You will want to send your block off to a place that deals with the Prelude engines mostly.  There is no need to send your block off to a place that only deals with domestic cars, when you need someone who can handle the Prelude block.

Having your stock crankshaft upgraded is something that can cost big dollars.  When you have this done, a machine shop builds to spec and engine block that fits this crank to the T.  Most different Prelude cars out there don't have this done.  It is very costly, and time consuming.  But it is the most reliable way to make after market power today.

The Prelude is a sporty car.  It is crowned as Honda's golden block.  The Prelude was the first car to feature the VTEC engine.  Introduced for the first time, in the H22 blocks.  Your average H22 puts out about 200 HP.  They stopped making these blocks in 2001 with the last generation Prelude.

Crankshafts are the most important part of the H22 engine.  The crankshaft is the most important part in any engine ever.  The crankshaft is what connects the pistons together, and what holds them in place during the rotation.  A good crankshaft is one that is well made.  A well made crankshaft can cost 1000's of dollars.

For the Prelude, if you are planning to go N/A than you are going to need a good crankshaft.  Billet makes a good one that we can recommend.
